I took the kids downtown for the Westerner Days Parade. It was their first one believe it or not! They were so excited. Naveah of course pointed out every Horse and told me which ones she thought were girl and boy ones...most of them were girls apparently. It was so cute to watch her jump up and down and clap her hands whenever she saw one. Naveah actually halted the parade a few times just from people telling her how cute she and her hair was!!! Funny considering It wasnt a day I did anything special to it. But Naveah totally soaked in the attention and began shouting out to everyone who walked by trying to get them to talk to her.
Kael stayed pretty quiet and just watched but got quite loud whenever he saw a spark of interest. There was a float that went by that had a big space shuttle on top (i dont remember what they were for). Also the street cleaners and waste management trucks got a rise out of him and of course, the army trucks. At one point a guy in an camo outfit walked past and Kael started asking him questions....Im surprised the guy heard Kael and turned around to talk back. Kael was asking him, while pointing at him in amazement, "are you a Army guy!?". Turned out he was in the air force, but to Kael that was just as cool, if not more. There were also lots of police cars to keep his interest.
There wasnt as much music and bands as I had hoped. There were all at the very beginning and there were probably only 4 different ones. Its too bad cause Naveah was enjoying it and she would get up and do her little jig as they went by.
I didnt get as many pics as I wanted either cause I was too busy chasing Jacek back to our blanket. He was happy just taking off with the parade!
I dont know if we will do it again next year. Its a lot of work to take all the kids downtown by myself! But Im glad we went this year.
