Thankful for Friends....and Turkey.

We had our thanksgiving dinner tonight and man am I ever thankful I can cook cause that was SOOOOOOOOO good. I almost forgot about thanksgiving until someone mentioned it. Im so glad I was reminded in time to gather a few friends together to share a delicious meal

My thanksgiving day consists only of preparing dinner. I was awake early this morning and got started with the preparations about 6am. The potatoes and carrots peeled and awaiting their destiny. The brussel sprouts and cauliflower were smothered with asiago cheese sauce and waited patiently in the fridge for the turkey to be roasted. Salad was tossed and the stuffing was created. From there the Turkey was willingly dressed and placed in the oven. The house smelled amazing. The table was set, the kitchen was relatively clean and then it was time to prepare dessert. Apple Crisp. Oh how I love preparing a meal for my friends.

The turkey was perfect when it made its appearance back on the counter.
Dinner was ready when the guests arrived and we all dished up. The meal got great reviews! The children seemed to be the only ones who had something bad to say about it. So they all gathered around the kiddie desk and snacked on crackers, cheese and pickles instead. There were seconds and thirds, perhaps even fourths, served onto dinner plates. There was not a spec of turkey, stuffing or potatoes leftover when all was done. After clean up it was time for the best part....well okay not quite the best but a very close second....dessert! I got my Dads apple crisp recipe that is by FAR the best ive ever had. He told me exactly how he made it right down to how he got right in there and mixed it with his hands. I did the same thing. And it was perfect. Sliced and paired with Vanilla ice cream, you cant often get a better combination. ....Needless to say there isnt any left over.
